about

This album was recorded in 2020, with great musicians who will someday get to play the songs for a live audience. See album credits for a full list. There are two good love songs (Your Healing Grace, The Sweetness of This) a song about a Salvadoran refugee (Caravan), a #MeToo song (Carrieanne), a take-a-stand song inspired by Howard Tate (It Is My Business) a spoken word song about the end of time (Slippin’), a song about Vietnam (A Heart In Razor Wire), an open-tuned-guitar-and-strings song about the people I’m not (If I Were A Miner), and a long stream-of-consciousness jam tune (My Life), to mention a few.

about

Christopher Mark Jones Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

CMJ sings soulful country and blues-inflected Americana narratives
in “a rich voice that’s slightly rough around the edges” (Scott Mervis, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette), but still grabs the listener along with his “fascinating lyrics” (Melody Maker, UK) Listeners hear echoes of “Greg Brown's pacing and a Lyle Lovett attitude” (Ben Shannon), as well as of John Prine, Bruce Coburn and Darrell Scott. ... more
